Our Story

NSBA Means Small Business

More than 85 years of advocacy.

Serving over 65,000 Members.

Representing every industry and all 50 states.

NSBA is a staunchly nonpartisan organization, with decades of small-business advocacy expertise - from our long-serving leadership, to our knowledgeable and well-connected government affairs team - we are proud to be the nation’s first small-business advocacy organization.

Since 1937

Focused on federal advocacy, enacting critical access to capital programs, preventing unfair small-business tax penalties, and repealing some of the most potentially damaging laws and regulations, are just a few examples of our successes and what we do every day.

Proudly nonpartisan, NSBA is known for our  Economic Reports as well as the valuable results of our targeted surveys. Our legacy and reputation is a pragmatic, non-political, small-business advocacy organization, representing the 70 million owners and employees that make up American small business.
