Deadline Approaching for 2009 National SBIR/STTR Conference

July 30, 2009

While these are challenging times for the global economy the energy industry is thriving, as federal agencies and investors seek out technologies and opportunities with promising futures. In the coming decades, clean energy — solar, wind, hydroelectric, geothermal and biomass technologies — are intended to form the cornerstone of many U.S. economies, and private investors and federal agencies alike will search for inventive entrepreneurs to help with research and development, including research and development related to energy.

Highlighting renewable energy and energy-efficient technologies, the Re-Energizing America: 2009 National Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Conference will bring together government agencies, venture capital and angel investors, large companies, small businesses, lenders, researchers, university and federal laboratory representatives and other experts who provide assistance to or are interested in doing business with early-stage and advanced-stage ventures.

Hosted by the University of Nevada, Reno, the annual conference will be held Nov. 2-5, 2009, at John Ascuaga’s Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks, Nev., east of the University campus and 15 minutes from the Reno/Tahoe International Airport. Optional pre- and post-conference sessions scheduled for Nov. 2 and Nov. 5, 2009, will also be available for registration.

Conference sessions will include presentations by high-level guest speakers, top industry leaders and administrators from the U.S. Department of Defense, Health and Human Services, Department of Energy, Department of Commerce, Department of Education, Department of Transportation, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the National Science Foundation (NSF), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Small Business Association (SBA), Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Agriculture.
