Outstanding Conference for Exporters Coming Up
Aug 13, 2008
Smaller exporting companies will have a chance to hear top speakers, meet with government export assistance personnel, and network with other companies at one of the best exporting conferences in the U.S. It’s the Annual Conference of the District Export Councils (DEC) of the United States, which will be held from October 15 -18, in Palm Springs, CA. The conference is put together by DEC members, with the assistance of the U.S. Department of Commerce and a number of sponsors. The DEC’s are small groups of active exporters from across the U.S. whose members are selected by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce for their skill at helping promote U.S. exports.
The Annual DEC Conference, which is open to all current and prospective exporters, features workshops on specific industries and target markets, as well as “tools of the trade.” Invited speakers include U.S. Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ambassador and U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab, Undersecretary of Commerce for International Trade Chris Padilla, Director General of the Commercial Service Israel Hernandez, SBA Director of International Trade Luz Hopewell, and others. Award-winning journalist Gene Randall will moderate the discussions. Opportunities will be available to meet with Commercial Officers from U.S. Embassies abroad, who can provide great “on the ground” advice about opportunities to export to specific countries. Breakout sessions will cover such topics as intellectual property rights, export controls, trade finance, green technologies, and Asian markets.
