Dec 20, 2006

Washington, D.C. -- Scott Hauge of San Francisco has been elected vice chair of advocacy of the National Small Business Association for 2007, effective Jan. 1. Hauge's election occurred during the organization's annual membership meeting, held Nov. 3 in Hilton Head, S.C.

Hauge serves as president and owner of CAL Insurance and Associates, a multifaceted insurance agency founded in 1927. He previously served as NSBA's secretary, vice chair of communications, and vice chair of membership. Hauge also founded Small Business California, which has become extremely successful advocating on behalf of small businesses in the Golden State.

In California and throughout the country, Hauge has been a leading advocate in paving the way for small and medium-sized businesses. He helped introduced legislation that has affected businesses on local, state and national levels. He is considered one of the insurance industry's leaders in setting guidelines and has received numerous awards and countess commendations for his efforts.

"It is going to be a challenging year for small businesses, given the changes in Congress," Hauge said. "Change always is difficult, but I think it will provide many opportunities for small-business owners and NSBA."

For 70 years, NSBA has been an advocate for the interests of small-business owners throughout the country. The organization, which reaches more than 150,000 small-business owners, is the oldest small-business advocacy organization in the United States.
