The clock is running out for the reauthorization of the Small Business and Innovation Research (SBIR) Program, which is set to expire in 91 days. NSBA, in partnership with the Small Business Technology Council (SBTC), needs your help to get the program back on the right track.
In late May the House passed a bill, the SBIR/STTR Reauthorization Act (H.R. 5819), that aims to renew the program. Unfortunately, that bill includes provisions that undermine the integrity and spirit of the program, and for all practical purposes removes small business from the program. It is expected that the Senate will start moving a bill soon after they return from the July 4 recess, which is why it is so important that NSBA and SBTC members educate their Senators on the negative impact that H.R. 5819, would have on the SBIR Program.
With this in mind, SBTC will host a conference call on Thursday, July 10 at 11:00 a.m. EST. All NSBA and SBTC members are invited to participate in the conference call. The agenda for the conference call includes:
• Status of the reauthorization bill
• Washington Fly-in follow-up
• New SBIR compliance regulations
Dial-in details for members who are interested in participating in the conference call are listed below. NSBA and SBTC members who have corresponded with their elected officials about the reauthorization of the SBIR program are requested to e-mail a copy of any written correspondence to firstname.lastname@example.org.
