Look-Ahead to NSBA Lobbying Days

Next week, small-business leaders from across the country will convene in Washington, D.C. for NSBA’s 2017 Small Business Washington Presentation.  During the two-day event, attendees will hear from policymakers, administration officials, Congressional staff and thought leaders inside the Beltway. Additionally, participants will have ample time to network and craft their lobbying strategies before taking to Capitol Hill to discuss small-business priorities.

The first official event of the Washington Presentation on Monday, June 19 will be the Lew Shattuck Small Business Advocate of the Year Award luncheon where we will announce for the first time the overall award winner and recognize our four finalists. We will then hear from Administrator Linda McMahon of the U.S. Small Business Administration who will discuss the Trump Administration’s priorities for small business.

Following the luncheon, the NSBA delegation will participate in a hands-on exercise focused on reducing the debt, led by Marc Goldwein, senior vice president and senior policy director of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. Next, we will hear from Senior Administration Advisor Carlos Dias-Rosillo for our White House Briefing. Closing out the afternoon’s policy discussions will be an issue briefing and lobbying tutorial from NSBA leadership. To wrap-up the day, the delegation will step out on the town in Washington’s Chinatown neighborhood for an evening of food, drinks, fun and networking.

On Tuesday, the NSBA delegation will take to Capitol Hill, kicking off our lobbying with a Congressional Breakfast. We will hear from top staffers from key committees including: both the Senate and House Small Business Committees, the House Ways and Means Committee, and the Senate Finance Committee. Following these candid discussions, the NSBA delegation will spread out on Capitol Hill for meetings with their lawmakers.

This annual event provides small-business leaders from across the country to discuss the big issues, as well as weigh-in with their lawmakers on what small business needs and wants from Washington, D.C.

Please stay tuned for a detailed summary of the event.
